Babe Ruth team wins CIL Tournament
The local Babe Ruth baseball team (13-15 year olds) became champions of the Central Idaho League on Saturday, June 23, at the CIL Tournament held in Nezperce.
After completing the season in first place (with only one league loss) the Prairie Pirate Babe Ruth team swept their opponents (Orofino/Timberline and Grangeville) and claimed the first place medals.
The local baseball community should be proud of the 16-member team that has been dedicated and worked hard for 6 days per week since the first of May, to bring another championship to Cottonwood. Team members were Steven Baerlocher, Joe Schumacher, Conner Rieman, Kyle Holthaus, Devin Schmidt, Randy Becker, Silas Whitley, Robert Nau, Cody Schumacher, Shawn Seubert, Troy Lorentz, Kyle Marker, Justin Schmidt, Torin Dalgliesh, Derek Nuxoll and Austin Chmelik.
Team coaches were Clint Riener and Sandy Wainio with Frank Bruno as manager. A special thank you to all those volunteers that helped build this championship team; especially the parents, supports and Cottonwood Youth Sports.
