SMHC reminds about support group
St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics, sponsor for the Hope for Helping Others support group for survivors of breast cancer, is reminding interested women about the Monday meetings scheduled during July at the Soltman Center in Grangeville at 10:00 a.m. Co-facilitators for the group will be Carol McLean, Licensed Professional Counselor, and Sr. Corinne Forsman, SMHC Mission Integration Director.  Meetings will be held on July 2,9,16, 23 and 30.
The final session on Monday, July 30 will feature Doris Bevins, a lymphodema specialist from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.  Lymphodema is the swelling that can occur when lymph nodes are removed.  She will talk about methods to lessen the likelihood of its occurrence and to help offset its effects.
“People don’t have to attend each session if their schedule does not permit it,” said Sr. Corinne Forsman.  “We are hoping that women will share their stories and resources and other members, regardless of when they had breast cancer, will benefit.  If enough women are interested we will certainly consider continuing the group in the fall.”
The sessions are free.  Registration is not required, but is appreciated.  Please contact Sr. Corinne, 208-507-1308 or Carol McLean, 208-926-7632 for further information or to informally register.
