20 out for boys basketball
There are 20 players out for Prairie boys basketball this year with only 5 of those being juniors or seniors.
New head coach Teel Bruner has a young squad with 2 of those upperclassmen out for basketball for the first time in high school.
That includes the lone senior, Kenneth Enneking, who had taken wrestling previously.
Returning players with varsity experience are juniors Kyle Daly and Tyler Forsmann and sophomore David Sigler, who all saw a lot of starting time last season.
Junior Eric Daly and sophomores Kyle Holthaus and Branden Waller saw limited varsity action last year, spending most of their time with the JV squad.
The other junior is Kevin Karel, another who is out for basketball for this first time in high school.
Other sophomores are Derek Schaeffer, Conner Rieman and Joe Schumacher. Schaeffer and Rieman may see some varsity action this year.
The squad is rounded out by 9 freshman.
Devin Schmidt looks to get some varsity action with Beau Schlader, Brock Heath, J.C. Enriquez, Ryan Dalgliesh, Seth Guyer, Mikey Karel, D.J. Walker and Silas Whitley to see JV action.
Kevin Chaffee returns as JV coach with Pat Holthaus, the one constant in the program, now assisting his fourth different head coach.
The team’s first action is next Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Grangeville. Their first home game will be Dec. 6 against Highland.
