Wrestling team kicks off season
The Prairie wrestling team saw their first action of the season in the annual Takedown Tournament which this year was held at Grangeville Saturday, Dec. 1.
Prairie had 10 students out for wrestling this year with 9 able to compete at Saturday’s Tournament.
Jake Wimer and Ronald George are the seniors on the team. George was unable to attend due to military commitments.
Juniors on the team are Chance Ratcliff, James Jackson and Michael Matson.
Sophomores are Brandon Poxleitner, Tyrell Langston and Jeremy Ross.
Freshmen are Sheldon Klinkefus and Mitchel Jungert.
Returning state qualifiers are Poxleitner and Wimer. Jackson earned a state medal as a freshman but didn’t wrestle last year.
George, Ratcliff, Matson and Langston are all returning lettermen.
The team has their first dual match at Kamiah on Dec. 11.
James Jackson and Tyrell Langston had to wrestle against each other in one match.
