Pirates lose league opener
The Prairie Pirates opened league play with a loss as they fell 46-65 at Troy Thursday, December 20.
The Pirates followed a pattern they’ve developed so far this year of playing a tough first half only to fall apart in the second half.
Prairie trailed 9-12 at the quarter break and 28-32 at halftime but were swamped 8-20 in the third quarter as the Trojans pulled away for the win.
David Sigler scored 17 points to lead the Pirates in scored with Devin Schmidt scoring 12, Tyler Forsmann 6, Branden Waller 5, Kyle Daly 3, Eric Daly 2 and Kyle Holthaus 1.
With the loss Prairie is 0-1 in league lay and 3-4 overall.
Prairie won the JV game but no score was available.

Basketball teams at Orofino Tournament
The Prairie High School basketball team will be participating in the Orofino Holiday Tournament this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28-29.
The boys team will be playing Asotin at 3 p.m. on Friday followed by the girls game against Asotin at 4:30 p.m. Orofino’s teams play Pomeroy’s in later games.
On Saturday the two boys game losers will play at 3 p.m. and the girls game losers at 4:30. The boys championship game will be at 6 and the girls championship game at 7:30 p.m.

Alumni Games December 28
On December 28th, at 5:00 p.m., there will be an Alumni game at Prairie Middle School.  Players will be the alumni who have graduated from Prairie High School, or Summit Academy.  The game is open to everyone to watch.
The women’s game begins at 5:00 p.m., with the men’s game to follow.  The cost for the players is $5.00 each; General admission is $3.00 for adults, $2.00 for students, and everyone else is free.
There will be a 3 point contest and free throw contests.  All proceeds go toward the Tri-Parish Youth Trip for Africa in August of 2008.
