Pirates win big at Highland
The Prairie Pirates completed a season sweep of the Highland Huskies as they won their White Pine League matchup 81-62 at Craigmont Thursday, Jan. 17.
Prairie jumped out to a 23-11 lead after the first quarter and made the lead stand up for the win as they led 41-31 at halftime and 63-46 after 3 quarters.
Prairie had 4 players score in double figures led by Branden Waller with 20 and David Sigler with 19. Tyler Forsmann scored 13 and Eric Daly scored 12. Also scoring were Kyle Daly with 7, Devin Schmidt with 4 and Conner Rieman, Kenneth Enneking and Joe Schumacher with 2 each.
Highland was led by Bryce Stigum who scored 29.
Sigler had 9 assists for the Pirates.
The win puts Prairie at 2-2 in league play and 7-6 overall.
Prairie also had little trouble in the JV game as they won 53-22.

Prairie Pee Wee Basketball Signups
The Prairie coaches, Teel Bruner and Steve Wilson, along with many high school players are offering the Prairie Peewee basketball program again this year.  This is an opportunity for our area youth grades 2 – 4 to learn fundamentals in a low-key atmosphere.  The clinics will be held Feb 2nd & 9th.  The games will be held Feb 16th, 23rd, March 1st, and 8th.  Cost is $20 to participate or $30, which would include a Pee Wee Pirate tee shirt.  This program will be held at the Prairie Elementary School Gym.  If you are interested and need a sign up form contact Denise Uhlenkott at the Cottonwood School District, 962-3971.  Registration deadline is January 31, 2008. 

Two shooter perfect 25's
47 members of the Cottonwood Gun Club turned out to shoot on a very cold and windy Sunday.  Scoring 25's were Butch Spencer and Rod Sheets.  Rod Behler, Derek Schaeffer, and Pepper Harman all scored 24's.
 Top scores are as follows: AA Class- Rod Sheets, 25 and Lowell Mader and Andy Uhlorn both with 22’s; A Class- Rod Behler, 24 – John Kaschmitter, 22; B Class- Butch Spencer, 25 and Pepper Harman, 24; C Class- Derek Schaeffer, 24 and Paul Gilmore, 23; D Class- Debby Arnzen, 23 and Robert Gilmore, 21.
 Top Lady shooter is Debby Arnzen with a 23 and Roz Long, Ashley Schaeffer, Lynn Danly, and Judy Uhlorn with 18's.  Top Junior shooter is Derek Schaeffer, 23 and Robert Gilmore,21. Top Sub-Junior is Jake Rowland, 18 and Matthew Jungert, 17.  Top new adult shooters are Jesse Bruegeman and Scott Kaschmitter both with 19’s and Todd Stenzel with a 16.
