Welcome to the Prairie Action Group
Co-Chairs, Kathleen Steinke and Dakota Wilson along with their team members are busy planning, establishing, and tackling action items within their work plan.  They are beginning to partner with people in the area including City Hall employees, members of the Chamber of Commerce and highway district, Prairie School District personnel, owners of Dog Bark Park Welcoming Center and St. Gertrude’s Museum individuals.
Some of the goals they want to work on include, establishing a Community Welcoming Committee for newcomers, researching the possibility of joining the North Central Idaho Tourism Association, community events that would be open to everyone in the Quad City area, installing better signage for tourists and travelers in finding local places of interest, along with several other ideas talked about at the October launch.
The team met with Jack Duman in December to explore options for erecting signs in Cottonwood to direct visitors to the Pine Bar area.  Jack was very helpful and gave suggestion on how to achieve this action item.
The Welcome to the Prairie Action Group has already printed up a Community Directory Booklet that is helpful to newcomers in the area.  Some of these booklets have been distributed to Ferdinand’s Post Office, all the churches, all the schools and St. Mary’s Hospital.  If you know of someone who would benefit by having one of these directories, please call Kathy at (208) 962-5513 or Dakota Wilson at (208) 962-7725.
What a great start for the Welcoming Action Group – we thank you for your inspiration and enthusiasm.  If you are interested in joining this action group, their next meeting will be held on Monday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. in the guest dining room at the Monastery of St. Gertrude.
