second at Elks State Hoop Shoot
Rhett Schlader of Cottonwood took second at the Idaho Elks state hoop shoot contest at Kellogg Saturday, Feb. 9. 
He hit 19 of 25 free throws in the 10-11 year old boys competition, placing him second to Jesse Lambert of Pinehurst, who hit 23 of 25. A local area winner was Shalynn Gutzman of Kooskia, who took first in the 8-9 year old girls division with 19 of 25. Also competing from the Grangeville Lodge was Brad Schumacher of Grangeville in the 12-13 year old boys division. He hit 16 of 25 This was the fourth stage of the contest. Contestants at Kellogg were the top 30 of over 38,000 who began competition statewide. Winners advance to Portland, Ore. Rhett’s parents, Scot and Shelley, want to thank the Grangeville Elks Lodge for providing the local contestants and their families with lodging and a dinner at Kellogg. |
