Welcome to the Prairie Action Group met last Thursday at the monastery and discussed various action items they are working on at this time.  Several of these events are expected to be completed by June of this year.  Team members discussed creating an area map which could be distributed along with the Resource Guide, the possibility of renting a bus to conduct a “scenic tour” across Cottonwood Butte from Keuterville to Ferdinand, a “hayride along the back roads from Keuterville to Ferdinand as well as other points of interest, and the possibility of members taking the free “IdaHost” hospitality e-course to better understand how to welcome tourist business to our area.
Co-Chair, Kathleen Steinke, said a discussion about finding historical information to use on a “Historical Marker” sign for each of the Quad City towns is another project that they are going to look into and begin to research.  They are also continuing to look into funding for the Pine Bar road signs and for Community Celebration Events.
Wanting to have our area be attractive to those passing through or looking at our area as a possible place to live,  the action team is also hoping that someone in the area might “seize the opportunity” to set up a recycling business to help clean up areas where discarded/ recyclable materials seem to  accumulate and detract from a welcoming attractiveness of our area.
The next meeting for this Action Group will be held on Monday, March 31st in the small dining room at St. Gertrude’s Monastery.  All interested community members are welcome to come and bring their ideas.  The more people who enter into giving a little of their time will help us see our communities’ vision become reality.  We celebrate the “Welcome to the Prairie Action Team’s” dedication and for all their hard work in bettering ur community.   Thank you and keep up the good work!
Please note, the Prairie Horizon’s Steering committee will meet this Thursday night, March 6th at the Community Hall Multi-purpose room 6-8 p.m.  Budgets will be discussed.  All Steering committee members, please plan to attend.
