Shumway breaks school record in shot put
Kyler Shumway set a new school record in the shot put as he won the event in a multi-school track meet at Kamiah Thursday, April 3.
His mark of 52’7” broke the record of 52’2¾” set by J.D. Riener at last year’s state track meet.
Shumway was the only Prairie event winner at the meet but several others earned places among the top 3 in their events.
For the boys team Brock Heath placed second in the 1600 in 5:13.1 and third in the 3200 at 10:58.8.
David Sigler was second in the 300 hurdles in 43.7, third in the 100 in 11.5 and third in the 200 in 23.9.
Also Prairie’s 4x100 relay team took third in 48.1.
For the girls Casey Bruegeman took second in the 3200 in 14:32.5 and Kaylee Uhlenkott was second in the shot put at 36’9”.
Prairie’s 4x200 relay team of Kristin Hill, NaTosha Schaeffer, Justina Zigler and Katie Nuxoll took second in 1:59.5 and their 4x100 team of Nuxoll, Dani Cochran, Bruegeman and Hill took third in 59.0.
As a team the boys were sixth with 68 points and the girls were fourth with 66 points among 11 schools participating.
