Prairie teams both take second at WPL meet
The Prairie boys and girls track teams each finish second at the White Pine League track meet held at Lapwai Tuesday, April 29.David Sigler got the lean against Timberline's anchorman to win the 4x200 relay for Prairie at the White Pine League meet.
The boys team finished 6 points behind Timberline with 111 points while the girls were just 2 points behind Lapwai with 98 points.
Event winners for the boys were Kyler Shumway in the shot put at 52’9” and the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Anchor runner David Sigler outleaned Lapwai’s anchorman to win the 4x100 in 46.8. Teammates were Jon Rice, Kyle Daly and Devin Schmidt. 
In the 4x200 Rice, Jason VonBargen, Schmidt and Sigler won in 1:37.6 with Sigler outleaning Timberline’s anchorman at the tape.
Other top 3 finishers were Sigler with a second in the 300 hurdles in 44.0; the 4x400 team of Daly, Kris Banning, Rice and Brock Heath with a third in 3:57.8; Kenneth Enneking, third in the shot put at 43’5”, Shumway, second in thediscus at 126’9” and Schmidt, second in both the long jump at 17’10½” and the triple jump at 37’11¼”.
For the girls team the only event winner was Kaylee Uhlenkott in the shot put at 38’10½”.
Their depth helped them to the second place finish.
Top 3 finishers were Betty Clark with a third in the 1600 at 6:31.5; Casey Bruegeman, third in the 3200 in 14:09.8; NaTosha Schaeffer, third in the 100 hurdles in 18.8; Uhlenkott, second in the discus at 103’8” and Katie Nuxoll, second in the triple jump at 30’6”.
Also the 4x100 relay team of Kristin Hill, Kayla Lorentz, Nuxoll and Schaeffer was second in 55.7 as was the 4x200 team of Justina Zigler, Lorentz, Nuxoll and Schaeffer in 2:04.2 despite dropping the baton at one of the handoffs. The medley team of Dani Cochran, Lorentz, Hill and Zigler took third in 2:13.7.

Boys track team takes second at Kamiah Invitational
The Prairie boys track team took second at the Kamiah Invitational Track Meet Friday, May 2 at Kamiah, just 5 points behind Orofino.
This despite the fact that Kyler Shumway in the shot put was their only event winner. He won with a toss of 54’0”.
Individual top 3 finishers were Jason VonBargen, second in the long jump at 18’4½” and Devin Schmidt, 2nd in the triple jump at 38’11”.
Prairie took second in the 4x200 relay in 1:35.58 (just .4 off the school record), third in the 4x100 relay in 46.34 and second in the 4x400 relay in 3:39.50.
The girls team placed fifth in the team standings.
Top finishers was Kaylee Uhlenkott who took second in the shot put at 37’11”.
Casey Bruegeman took third in the 3200 in 13:49.40.
Also the 4x400 relay team took third in 4:51.06.
Devin Schmidt lands in the pit in the triple jump. He took second in the event at the White Pine League meet.
NaTosha Schaeffer leaned out Deary's anchor runner at the finish for second place in the girls 4x200 relay at the White Pine League meet. This despite the team dropping the baton on the first handoff.
Kaylee Uhlenkott took second place in the discus at the White Pine League meet.
