HOSA group competes at State
Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) is a student organization whose mission is to promote career opportunities in heath care. This year, Prairie HOSA had 11 members, eight of which attended the State Conference in Boise on April 9 – 11.  Over 300 students from around the state attend this annual event.  To qualify for the National Competition, students must place at least third place in their event at State.  The Prairie HOSA members did well, earning several opportunities to attend the National Conference.  The results are as follows:
HOSA Bowl – 2nd place: Kyle Daly, Conner Rieman, Brock Heath
Prepared Speaking - 2nd place – Katie Nuxoll; 3rd place – Seth Guyer
Extemporaneous poster - 3rd place – Dani Cochran
Medical Terminology - 6th place – Kyle Daly; 10th place – Kara Guyer
Pathophysiology - 9th place – Conner Rieman
CPR / First Aid - 7th Place – Dani Cochran & Amber Frei
Five students plan to attend Nationals, which will take place in Dallas, TX on June 18 – 21. We have many different fundraising ideas planned.  Most recently, we were able to sell concessions at the Girl’s District Softball Tournament.  We would like to thank Travis Mader for giving us the opportunity to do this, and for the pop he donated, Riener’s Grocery for all of the discounted food items, Aleta Coppernoll for the chips, Emily Lerandeau for being our gopher, and Gus and Ann Hoene, for cooking burgers and hot dogs as well as being our best customer.  Thanks also to everyone who purchased food or gave donations.
The next fundraising events we have planned are:
May 28 – Chance to pie Terry Cochran or Lynn Guyer (STUDENTS ONLY)
May 31 – Car Wash - 10 am at the Fire Station
June 7 – HOSA H20 at the Sales Yard
June 13 – Hot Dogs and Pop at Cash & Carry
June 14 – Yard Sale at Cottonwood City Park
Thanks to all for your support.
