Fire training exercise planned
The Cottonwood Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a training exercise this Saturday, June 7, in a house at 1301 School Street that was gutted by fire last year.  Traffic on School Street and Butler Street within a block of the training location may be obstructed or rerouted due to the positioning of fire engines, hoses, and personnel.  The remains of the structure will be ignited so the fire department can practice defensive fire control and suppression tactics.  The fire department requests residents to be patient and understanding of any inconvenience which may occur.  This type of training is very valuable since it provides practice with an actual burning building.  If there are any questions or concerns, please contact Chief Rod Behler at 962-3171 or City Clerk Carol Altman at 962-3231.
