Sister to celebrate 25th Jubilee
In 1978 I was invited to a retreat at the Monastery of St. Gertrude where I realized that my life could mean so much more with the Sisters than it could by itself and so I made my first profession on June 25, 1983.
Since that pivotal moment I have served in Cottonwood at St. Mary’s Hospital and with North Central Deanery Youth Ministry; received my nursing degree from ISU and served St. John’s parish as a lector and Eucharistic minister for Bannock and Pocatello Regional Hospitals and volunteered at the Free Clinic; ministered in Lewiston as staff nurse at Tri-State and St. Joe’s hospitals and as Maternal-Child Outreach nurse for the Nez Perce Tribal Health Program; served Our Lady of Lourdes parish on the RCIA team, taught sacraments and Christology for the MDP program and served as a lector and Eucharistic minister for the homebound; and served in Jerome as staff nurse at St. Benedict’s, coordinated pastoral visitors and taught religious education to 4th grade students.
Called home to the monastery in 1996, I was Director of our infirmary until 1999 when I was asked to serve as Vocations Director. My nursing ministry continues at Gritman Hospital Family Birth Center in Moscow.
As I look back on 25 years of service in our Church and community I am deeply grateful to be a part of the Benedictine tradition and history of St. Gertrude’s.
