Keuteville's Country Picnic set for Sept. 14
Young and old alike are invited to enjoy a day of old-time fun in Keuterville on Sunday, September 14th.  Keuterville’s Country Picnic is meant to commemorate the generous support for the new roof currently being installed on Holy Cross Chapel.  (It seems only fitting that this celebration be held on the feast day of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which happens to fall on a Sunday this year!)
The day will begin with Mass at Holy Cross Chapel at 12:00 noon.  The picnic will kick off immediately following, with a live “Basket Social” auction in the church yard.  If you are not the highest bidder for a basket, you may want to enjoy a delicious burger from the on-site burger stand.  Of course, you are welcome to pack your own picnic lunch to enjoy, as well.  (Be sure to bring a blanket and/or chairs to picnic on!)
Entertainment for all ages begins at 2:00 p.m.  Activities planned include old-fashioned kids’ races, horseshoes, an arm-wrestling contest, hay rides, tug of war, and more!  Scrapbooks from the Holy Cross Christian Mothers, which chronicle over 30 years of life in Keuterville, will be on display.  A beautiful painting of Holy Cross Chapel, painted and donated by Peggy Morbeck of Lewiston, will be raffled at 3:00 p.m.  Tickets will be sold in Keuterville the day of the picnic, but they are also available now at the office of Lauretta Poxleitner, MCPA (where the painting is currently displayed), Harman Agency, and Riener’s Grocery.  You need not be present to win.
The Holy Cross Roofing Committee thanks all of the surrounding communities for their generous support of this project.  Please come help us celebrate its completion.
Anyone who would like to offer a basket of food for the “Basket Social,” help set up/clean up, offer equipment for activities and games, or volunteer in any way to make this a day to remember in Keuterville is asked to call Lynn Goeckner at 962-3133.  We hope to see you there!
