Dog Bark Park unveils new Art – giant Salmon Sculpture
Dennis J. Sullivan recently completed installation at Dog Bark Park of a Pacific Salmon sculpture entitled Returning.
Fabricated of steel, the 13-foot sculpture pays larger-than-life homage to the majestic salmon common to Idaho's Clearwater, Salmon & Snake River drainages of the Columbia River.  An interpretive panel at the outdoor site details the anadromous salmon’s incredible life-cycle.
The sculpture depicts a Chinook salmon in its spawning phase; “A wonderful fish profile to apply my artistic interpretation in an aesthetically balanced and dramatic presentation,” says Sullivan, also noting that over a few seasons his sculpture, “not entirely unlike the salmon it represents, will undergo a transformation in appearance.  The sculpture will slowly acquire a rusty brown patina.”
The public is welcome to view the artwork during daylight hours.  Dog Bark Park is located on Business Highway 95 at Cottonwood.
