Pirates clobber Idaho City
The Prairie Pirates went 1-1 in the Wilder Tournament last Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29-30.
They lost Monday in a game in which no details are available to the Chronicle and rebounded Tuesday by overwhelming Idaho City 74-28.
The game was tied after the first quarter at 12-12 but Prairie opened things up in the second quarter where the outscored Idaho City 24-9 to take a 36-21 halftime lead.
They kept it going in the second half as they held a 24-6 advantage in the third quarter and a 14-1 advantage in the fourth.
David Sigler had 26 points and 5 steals to lead the team while Eric Daly scored 12 and Tyler Forsmann 11.
Conner Rieman and Derek Schaeffer added 6 points each while Kyle Holthaus scored 5, Branden Waller 4, Devin Schmidt 2 and Joe Schumacher and Seth Guyer 1 each.
With the split in southern Idaho Prairie is 3-3 on the season.

Jackson, Jungert earn second place medals at Pomeroy
The Prairie Wrestling team competed at the Pomeroy Wrestling Tournament Tuesday, Dec. 30 and finished in 6th place out of 13 teams competing.
James Jackson and Mitchel Jungert were Prairie’s top finishers as each brought home a second place medal.
Jackson lost in the championship match at 145 lbs. to Tye Knebel of Pomeroy by a 5-7 decision.
At 285 lbs. Jungert was involved in a 3 wrestler round robin for the title. He defeated Ben Grimes of Pullman by technical fall 15-0 and lost to Gabe Lucero of Kittitas by pin.
Finishing in fourth place were Tyrell Langston at 152 lbs. and Chance Ratcliff at 215 lbs. Langston lost in the third place match 3-7 to Sam Garnett of Joseph while Ratcliff lost by pin in 5:41 to Dustin Dean of Kittitas.
