Ready, Set, GROW!
WHAT: The St. Mary’s Tri-parish Adult Faith Formation is called: GROW! Small groups provide a great opportunity to spend time with friends while we learn more about our Catholic faith through discussions about our faith and how we can support one another in living it fully.
WHO: All adults in the community are invited and encouraged to join an existing group or start a group of your own.  We order all the materials and help in any way we can.
WHEN & WHERE: Every small group chooses the time and place and dates to meet that best suits their schedules.
WHY: “Our Hearts Were Burning Within Us” is a document written by the U.S. Catholic Bishops.  They wrote, “To do their part, adult Catholics must be mature in faith and well equipped to share the Gospel, promoting it in every family circle, in every church gathering, in every place of work and in every public forum.  They must be people of prayer whose faith is alive and vital, grounded in a deep commitment to the person and message of Jesus.”
We are very excited to be kicking off the 4th year of GROW!   We meet in small groups in order to provide an opportunity to learn more about our Catholic faith in a relaxed, non-threatening atmosphere.  Participants may contribute to the conversation or simply listen.  You can choose to meet at a time and place that fits with your busy schedule.  You can organize a group of your friends, neighbors or co-workers or join an existing group in order to get to know some new people.
The following will be offered as courses of study:
“Rediscovering Catholicism” by Matthew Kelly. Through this book, the author dreams of awakening the sleeping giant that is Catholicism!  He is dedicated to inspiring Catholics and invigorating the Church.  He encourages all Catholics to be energized, engaged, faith-filled, and spiritual. In this book, Kelly reveals the essence of authentic Catholic spirituality while addressing important questions we face today both as individuals and as a Church.
“The United States Catholic Catechism for Adults” written by the US Catholic Bishops. This catechism takes into account American culture as it presents teaching from the Universal Catechism.
“Immersed in Christ” by Fr. David Knight.  This will be a study specific to the Advent and Lenten Seasons.  The guiding principle is forward motion…..little by little, we grow through simple practices.  The overall goal of this study is to give life to our religion and depth to our spirituality.
If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith through one of these GROW! studies, please contact Pat Schmidt at 962-3214 or stmarysreled@mtida.net.  Books will be ordered on Monday, September 21.
