Prairie Horizons and the University of Idaho Extension will be sponsoring an informational meeting Wednesday, March 3rd from 7-9 p.m. on long-term care at the Cottonwood Community Hall.
Why wait until you are facing a health crisis to make long term care decisions?  This meeting will feature speakers from Area Agency on Aging and Legal Aid of Idaho to discuss options for long term care, as well as provide community resources available for those interested in staying in their own homes.  Speakers will also talk about qualifications for Medicaid and Medicare payments for long term care.  Results of a preliminary feasibility study by senior students at the Business School at the University of Idaho will be shared to help community members consider a possible long term care facility in Cottonwood, Idaho.
Ruth McQuinn, the Ombudsman for the Elderly with the Area Agency on Aging and Jeaninne Ferguson with Idaho Legal Aid Services will share over 20 years of combined expertise on this very important topic facing our community’s growing elderly population.
This project is being brought to you by Prairie Horizons, in cooperation with the University of Idaho Extension, in response to residents’ expressed need for an additional assisted living facility on the Prairie.  This meeting will help you to better understand long term care options, for yourselves and your family members.  All community members are encouraged to participate in this discussion to explore the possibilities in our area.
Speakers will provide information, resources and handouts for community discussion.  For more information, and an accurate count of participants, please contact Shelli Schumacher, 962-5371; Chinh Ostrander, 962-7082 or Sr. Katie Cooper, 962-2002.
