Library news
The Prairie Community Library Board met in April to look over the new changes in the library. Construction and painting has been finished. Prisoners from NICI were a big help with the painting. The Children's Center is a little larger and more appealing.  Dani Cochran showed a sample sketch of a mural that will go on the wall.
The new room increased the library space by 240 square feet.  There is still discussion about what will be in that space.  A new door with side windows gives a beautiful new look to the library.  An outside window on the front of the building lets in lots of sunshine.  A lift on the outside of the building will give access to the lower level and to the library for people who do not like to do stairs.  Plans for a new Library sign have been sent to the highschool shop class.
We have some sets of encyclopedias to give away if anyone wants them.  We also have duplicate copies of books which were donated to the library for sale.
Summer Reading will start in June this summer, which is a month earlier then usual.  This is to give the children more time to read books for the summer vacation.  There will be prizes and special events at intervals throughout the summer.  Aleta Coppernoll is the summer reading coordinator.  If you would like to help on a one time basis or all summer, please contact her.
