SMHC to host Parkinson Support Group meeting
St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics will host a support group meeting for people interested in forming a regular Parkinson’s Support Group.  The 3:00 p.m. initial meeting will be held in the SMHC downstairs conference room on Wednesday, August 25.  Anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
“We’ve had a number of requests from people in the community to form a support group for those impacted by Parkinson’s Disease.  We’d like to begin meeting on a regular basis,” said Sr. Janet Barnard, Mission Integration Coordinator.  “Living with Parkinson’s can be very challenging.  Learning more about it, sharing ideas and resources can often make a difference in a person’s life.”
Sr. Janet joined the SMHC staff this summer.  She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University.  She has worked at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Tri State Hospital and at the Gritman Family Birth Center in Moscow.  She has also served as the Director of the Infirmary at the Monastery of St. Gertrude.  Sr. Janet has completed course work towards a Masters Degree in Spirituality and Pastoral Ministry at Gonzaga University.  She will help facilitate the regular support group.
“If anyone can’t make the Wednesday afternoon meeting I encourage them to call, let me know and I can notify them of the next meeting,” said Sr. Janet.  “I’d like everyone who might be interested to join us in helping make the group a meaningful experience.”
Sr. Janet can be reached by calling St. Mary’s Hospital, 962-3251 extension 8239.
