Chmelik defeats Rehder
For the first time in 6 years Idaho County will have an all-Republican County Commission.
Apparently the third time was a charm for Jim Chmelik as he ousted incumbent Democrat Jim Rehder 3669 to 2898.
Jim Rockwell won re-election by a count of 4537 to 1810 over independent challenger Chuck Rogers.
The other county races were unopposed.
In District 8 races incumbent state representatives Ken Roberts and Paul Shepherd each easily won re-election while Republican Sheryl Nuxoll of Cottonwood defeated Democrat Leta Strauss of Grangeville. For the first time in several years we’ll have a statehouse member from the Pacific Time Zone portion of District 8.
In the statehouse races the Republicans swept.
For Congress Republican challenger Raul Labrador ousted incumbent Democrat Walt Minnick and in the Senate race Mike Crapo won re-election.
