Youth ministry active in December
Dear Youth in Christ,
“Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel!” As we enter the month of December we are reminded of the beauty of the season before us. It is during this special time that we would like to invite you to join us as a young community to celebrate your faith through prayer, service, socials, worship, learning, food and fun. Your presence is a gift to us and we look forward to seeing what God has in store as we gather in His name.
On Dec. 1st all H.S. and Jr. High youth are invited to the On Mighty Ground (OMG) room to address Christmas cards to our college students. We will begin the night at 6 p.m. with chili and a movie. Bring your friends and help us bring some Christmas cheer to our young adults who are away from home. We look forward to seeing you!
On Dec. 3rd we will have our devotion and donut prayer time at St. Mary’s Church from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Please sign up for a time of prayer and join us later for donuts in Debbie’s office. This is a great way to start your Advent journey!
On Dec. 7th all Jr. High and H.S. girls are invited to the OMG at 7 p.m. for a jewelry party. This is a great opportunity for you to shop for your mom, grandma and friends. Let your friends know because whenever a bunch girls gather, there’s always fun!
On Dec. 8th the Mission Team 2012 will meet at the OMG at 7 p.m. to plan the Alumni games. If you plan on attending our mission trip in 2012, please attend this meeting. It is one of our fundraisers and helps you with the cost of the trip. Your input is very important and helpful.
On Dec. 13th at 7 p.m. the Confirmation Prep class will meet at the H.S. faith formation building to make up for our Nov. class. The focus will be, “The Holy Spirit.” Please bring your assignments, folder and journal.
On Wed., Dec. 15th all H.S. youth are invited to the OMG at 7 p.m. to plan for the Community Light Parade. Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided.
On Dec. 18th all youth are invited to decorate the float for the Light Parade. We will begin at 12 p.m. The location is not yet determined but will be announced. The H.S. youth will also be hosting the monthly Youth Mass. This Mass is in the honor of the college students and will take place on Saturday evening. The location is not yet determined but will be announced soon. A pizza and social time will follow the Liturgy and everyone is invited, so please watch the bulletin for more details.
On Dec. 19th we will continue decorating the float at 12 p.m. if needed. All youth riding on the float will need to meet in Debbie’s office promptly at 3:45 p.m. Line up for the parade is 4:30 and the parade begins at 5 p.m.
On Dec. 22nd all youth and adults are invited to meet at the OMG at 5:45 to go caroling. We will have chili and a white elephant gift exchange beginning at 7:15. Come and join us as we bring in the Christmas season with joy and laughter. For the white elephant gift exchange that is wrapped and crazy, the crazier the better! If you have questions call Debbie at 208-553-5837.
Dec. 25th, I would like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all of you. Please remember to enjoy this special time with your family and friends.
On Dec. 28th tell your parents to get their tennis shoes on and go to the Middle School to show off their basketball skills. Our annual Alumni game hosted by the youth mission team for 2012 will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the women’s game. All alumni from Prairie, Summit and St. Gertrude’s Academy are invited to participate in this great community event. The men’s game will follow the women’s. Cost for participant registration is $10. Registration and spectator cost will be taken at the door. There will also be concessions, a 3 pt. Contest and a free throw contest. We hope to see you there and thank you in advance for your support. All proceeds go toward Mission Trip 2012.
May the joy of the Christmas season enter your heart and may you find new hope and a reason for celebration as you discover the greatest gift of all, the Christ child. Have a Merry Christmas and Blessed New Year!
In the Spirit of the Season,
Debbie Chicane
