The Ladies Night Out is funded by a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boise Affiliate.  Women aged 18-49 who are residents of Idaho County, have not had a female exam or mammogram within the past year and are uninsured or underinsured qualify for a free wellness exam and mammogram through the grant.
Health providers from St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics will provide wellness exams that evening by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment call the Cottonwood Medical Clinic, 962-3267.  All women are welcome to the event and all women can receive an exam, if interested.  All financial arrangements are kept strictly confidential.  The clinic will bill health insurance companies for women who are insured.  Staff will also be available to schedule a mammogram during Women’s Health Day on the third Wednesday of the month in Grangeville or the fourth Wednesday of the month in Cottonwood.
“We’re really emphasizing women’s health and trying to make it easy and fun for women to get their annual exam, talk to a health provider, get their mammogram, when necessary and focus on their own health.  One in eight American women will experience breast cancer in her lifetime.  It’s so important to diagnose it as early as possible,” said Stephanie Wagener, SMH Clinics Manager. “We encourage women of all ages to join us on April 14 between 5:30 and 7:30 for some female camaraderie, some relaxation and fun.”
Free goody bags with a focus on items for relaxation and healthy refreshments will also be available for all participants. Women who had their exams last year through the Komen grant are eligible again this year if their insurance or place of residence have not changed.
