Girl Scouts learn about animals
Girl Scout Troop 3785 visited Cottonwood Veterinary Service on Monday, April 11.
Helen Rowland, DVM, talked to the girls about different aspects of her job. She told them how important it is to be careful around big animals like horses and cattle.
Then she showed the girls different items that should be included in an animal first aid kit. Each girl got a chance to practice wrapping a wound on a toy horse. The girls received an ace wrap bandage to bring home and an information sheet about first aid for animals.
Next the Girl Scouts got to use a stethoscope and listened to the heart beat of a puppy.
The highlight was getting to see a newborn calf that was just an hour old.
The girls all had a great time and we want to thank Helen Rowland, DVM for letting us visit her clinic.

Girl Scouts finish cookie sale
April 10th was the last day for Girl Scouts to sell cookies. Troop 3785 had an excellent cookie sale, but we couldn’t have done it without area residents and businesses who purchased cookies.
We want to thank Cottonwood Foods, Arnzen Drug and Riener’s Grocery for letting us have booth sales at their businesses. Also a big thank you goes out to the Cottonwood Chronicle for printing information about our troop’s cookie sales and activities.
The money earned by our Troop will allow the girls to attend different activities this summer. We raised enough in donations to send 3 dozen boxes of cookies to our active military personnel. Also, donated money allowed our Troop to purchase cookies that will be given to the shelter home. Thanks again to all the area residents and businesses for everything you have done.
