UI awards scholarships
A college education is essential in today’s world, and the University of Idaho is working hard to provide that opportunity. More than 5,400 students have been awarded almost $30 million in scholarship support from the University of Idaho for the 2011-12 academic year.
"We understand the family financial challenges in the current environment,” said Dan Davenport, director of Student Financial Aid Services at the university. "We are committed to a strong scholarship program that provides access and will continue bringing the best and brightest to the University of Idaho."
The University of Idaho also has awarded $73.5 million in student loans, bringing the total amount of awarded financial aid to $125 million for the 2011-12 academic year.
The University of Idaho offers scholarship opportunities for students at all levels. Special scholarships not connected to specific majors or academic areas of study include alumni association, athletics, diversity, general university, honors, international programs, living groups, ROTC and many more.
The university also offers several scholarship programs to keep top Idaho high school graduates in Idaho, including the Go Idaho! Scholarship program and the National Merit Scholarship program. To attract top regional students to Idaho, the university offers the Discover Idaho scholarship program. The University of Idaho is a leader in the Northwest for National Merit Scholars and enrolls more National Merit Scholars than all other Idaho institutions combined.
