Dr. Farnworth to begin seeing patients
Marc Farnworth, MD, will begin seeing patients in early August as part of the St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics medical staff.  He recently served as chief resident at the Idaho State University Family Medicine Residency Program in Pocatello where he saw patients in their associated clinics.Dr. Marc Farnworth recently joined the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He will begin seeing patients on August 1st .  He has worked at SMHC in the past and recently served as Chief Resident in the Idaho State University Family Medicine Residency Program
Dr. Farnworth received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2008.  He earned his Honors Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry from the University of Utah in 2004 where he received a full tuition scholarship.
“I decided to become a doctor because I love science and research.  I wanted to interact with people and make a contribution to a community.  As I learned more about medicine, I realized it was a great fit for me because it connects science and interaction with people,” said Dr. Farnworth.  “My goal is to interact with my patients throughout their lifetime and help them through each phase.”
Dr. Farnworth did a rural rotation with St. Mary’s over a year ago and decided the medical staff and community were a perfect fit for him, his wife, Cami, and their son, Jordan.   Last summer he saw patients at the SMH Kamiah and Cottonwood Clinics for a two week period while other members of the medical staff were on vacation.  He grew up in Orem, Utah.  His hobbies include camping, hiking, running, flying single engine aircraft and spending time with his family.
“My family and I are very excited about our move to Cottonwood,” said Dr. Farnworth.  “We are looking forward to settling down after having moved a lot over the last few years.  We’re anxious to get to know the community and our new neighbors.”
Dr. Farnworth will replace Dr. Andrew Gilbert who is moving to Montana with his family to be closer to relatives.
“We are very excited about having Dr. Farnworth on our medical staff.  We received such positive feedback from our patients and staff when he was doing his rural rotation with us.  We’re glad he chose St. Mary’s and the Cottonwood area to set up his practice,” said Kristy Fresh, Director of Physician Practice.  “Fortunately, Dr. Obbie Atkinson also joined our staff earlier this year.  We’re thankful the people in this area have chosen St. Mary’s Hospital and our clinics as the place to receive their healthcare.”
