Prairie ROCKS
Last week the Prairie ROCKS class welcomed Sr. Janet Barnard from the Monastery of St. Gertrude.  Sr. Janet told the students about her journey to the religious life.  She encouraged everybody to take time to read the bible and to notice that the Catholic mass is very scriptural.  Sr. Janet’s talk led us perfectly into studying the changes made in the translation of the New Roman Missal which was used for the first time at mass on November 27.
This week the Prairie Faith Formation students enjoyed hearing Alexa Prigge tell about her summer adventures working on a Dude Ranch in the Colorado Rockies.  The students admired her willingness to not take this summer “dream job” if it meant she could not attend mass.  She explained to the students that attending mass should not be something we do simply to check it off our list as done for the week.  The mass strengthens us to live out our faith as we work and play and interact with others throughout every moment of our busy lives.
