Troy ends Prairie's season
The Prairie Pirates managed to keep it close for a half but Troy pulled away in the second half to end Prairie’s season 33-46 at District Tuesday, Feb. 21.
Prairie was never able to lead in the game but trailed just 7-8 at the end of the first quarter when Justin Schmidt scored a putback in the final seconds.
Prairie still trailed by just 1 at 11-12 in the second quarter when Troy scored 5 straight points and were able to lead by as many as 7 at 13-20 before a putback by Tyler Hankerson that made it 15-20 at the half.
Prairie scored first in the second half when Marcus Higgins drove in for a lay-up but Troy answered with a 2-12 run that put the Trojans up 19-32.
Prairie scored the final 4 points of the quarter to close within 23-32 but that was as close as they would get as Troy scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Seth Chaffee wound up leading the Pirates in scoring with 10 points with Higgins scoring 7, Hankerson 5, Schmidt and Casey Danly 3 each, Rhett Schlader and Lucas Arnzen 2 each and Dylon Bruegeman 1.
Prairie had a 26-21 rebounding edge led by Arnzen with 6. 
Chaffee had 2 steals and Higgins had 2 assists.
Prairie was 11 for 36 from the field, 31%, and 11 for 17 at the line, 65%. Troy was 18 for 40 from the field, 45%, and 5 for 6 at the line, 83%.
With the loss, Prairie ends their season with an 8-15 record.

Two shoot perfect scores
Despite the strong, cold wind it was another fantastic day of shooting for everyone at the Gun Club Sunday, with two shooters hitting perfect scores.  
Starting off in AA class, Lowell Mader, Jim Ewing, and Ralph Terhaar all had scores of 23 while Pepper Harman and Derek Schafer both notched 22.  
Jake Rowland scored the first 25 of the week, leading the way in A class, while Darrell Uhlorn and Ryan Mader weren't far off the pace with 23. 
Shane Poxleitner tallied the clubs' other 25 this week in besting B class, while Jean Spencer, Kyle Bruegeman and JR McAfee all shot 21. 
In C class, Jeff North was top gun, hitting 23 while Ben Havens scored a 22.  
Amanda Kaschmitter led the way in D class, firing a 19 Dylon and Devin Bruegeman just off the pace with 17 each. 
Moving on to Long Handicap, Andy Uhlorn led from long distance, hitting 23 while Ralph Terhaar and Jim Ewing both had 19.  Short Handicap leader this week was Jake Rowland, hitting 24, with Derek Schafer hitting 23.  Round out the top scores in Short Handicap were Lowell Mader, Shane Poxleitner, Brandon Poxleitner, and Jesse Bruegeman, all with 22.  
In Doubles, Brandon Poxleitner took charge hitting 43, while Jake Rowland hit 35 and Shane Poxleitner had 33.  
Finally in Continentals, Brandon Poxleitner and Ralph Terhaar led the way with 21 apiece and Jake Rowland scored 20.
