Schmidt, Riener, relays win at Lapwai meet
Justin Schmidt won two individual events and was part of 2 relay wins while Demetria Riener won the girls shot put at the Central Idaho Invitational track meet at Lapwai Saturday, March 17.Justin Schmidt soars towards the pit in the triple jump where he took first place.
Schmidt had a time of 54.09 to win the 400 meters and a leap of 39’10” to win the triple jump. 
Schmidt anchored the 4x200 relay to a winning time of 1:42.82 as he just nipped C.V.’s anchor man at the tape. Dakota Wilson led off with Marcus Higgins and Troy Lorentz running the middle legs.
Prairie also won the distance medley relay with Justin Ross running 3 laps, Peter Spencer 1 lap, Schmidt 2 laps and Dylon Bruegeman 4 laps. They had a school record time of 12:17.77. Of course it’s a school record because it’s the first time Prairie ever competed in the event.
Riener’s winning mark in the shot put was 30’2¼”. She also placed 4th in the discus at 76’5”.
Ross took 2nd in the 1600 in a time of 5:18.09 and 15th in the 800 in 2:34.79.
MaKayla Schaeffer was 2nd in the 400 in 1:06.46 and 4th in the triple jump at 28’4½”.
The boys 4x100 relay team of Wilson, Higgins, Cody Schumacher and Lorentz placed 2nd with a time of 49.75. A thrower’s relay team of Josh Roeper, Austin Sonnen, Micah Bartlett and Garrett Schmidt also competed, taking 2nd in the thrower’s relay race but no time was available.
The girls 4x200 relay team of Keely Schmidt, Shelby VonBargen, Claire Whitley and Schaeffer took 2nd in 1:58.08 and the medley team of Brandi Gehring, VonBargen, Schmidt and Abi Chmelik also took 2nd in 2:16.76. The 4x400 team of Schmidt, VonBargen, Whitley and Schaeffer took 3rd in 4:40.56.
Other boys results:
Wise Kittithakorn was 25th in the 100 in 13.08, 18th in the 200 in 27.52 and 24th in the long jump at 14’2”.
Sonnen was 28th in the 100 in 13.35 and 50th in the shot put at 23’8”.
Roeper was 3rd in the shot put at 37’11” and 21st in the discus at 83’3”.
Derek VanderPas was 7th in the shot at 36’1” and 22nd in the discus at 81’4”.
Schumacher was 8th in the shot at 35’6”.
Schmidt was 15th in the shot at 33’2” and 40th in the discus at 67’9”.
Demetria Riener won the shot put competition at the Lapwai meet Saturday.Robert Nau was 13th in the discus at 90’1” and 29th in the shot at 29’5”.
Kyle Uhlenkott was 15th in the discus at 87’ and 32nd in the shot at 29’.
Westin Crenshaw was 39th in the shot at 26’3” and 34th in the discus at 71’.
Bartlett was 22nd in the discus at 81’4” and 40th in the shot at 26’2”.
Tyler Hankerson was 11th in the 200 in 26.77 and 10th in the 110 hurdles in 21.92.
Mason Dalgliesh was 19th in the 200 in 27.59; 14th in the 400 in 1:04.18 and 23rd in the long ump at 14’5”.
Tayler Heitman was 15th in the 400 in 1:05.79; 17th in the 800 in 2:40.92 and 14th in the 1600 in 6:02.72.
Dally Ratcliff was 18th in the 800 in 2:41.91, 19th in the 1600 in 6:21.0 and 35th in the long jump at 12’2”.
Bruegeman was 9th in the 1600 in 5:35.18.
Lorentz was 6th in the high jump at 5’4”.
Higgins was 12th in the 110 hurdles in 23.37.
Spencer was 12th in the 300 hurdles in 53.37.
The 4x400 team of Wilson, Lorentz, Hankerson and Schumacher placed 7th in 4:11.85.
The medley team of Roeper, Wilson, Spencer and Bruegeman placed 5th in 4:40.10.
Prairie also had a second 4x200 team of Schumacher, Dalgliesh, Bruegeman and Hankerson but not time was available.
As a team the boys placed 3rd out of 17 schools with 74 points behind Grangeville anTroy.

Sydney Glimp was 6th in the 800 in 3:03.86 and 13th in the 400 in 1:19.06.
Chmelik was 19th in the 100 in 15.22.
Brandi Gehring was 8th in the 100 hurdles in 20.56 and 5th in the high jump at 4’2”.
Whitley was 9th in the 300 hurdles in 1:00.57 and 5th in the long jump at 13’6½”.
Heidi Holubetz was 3rd in the shot at 27’9” and 10th in the discus at 62’6”.
Jessi Riener was 7th in the shot at 25’3” and 13th in the discus at 59’1”.
Beth Dinning was 25th in the shot at 18’6” and 29th in the discus at 41’8”.
Natasha Gimmeson was 20th in the 100 in 15.26, 17th in the 200 in 32.84 and 17th in the long jump at 11’½”.
Rachel Falzon was 24th in the 100 in 16.0; 22nd in the 200 in 34.8 and 16th in the long jump at 11’3½”.
VonBargen took 11th in the 200 in 30.5.
Kellie Heitman took 15th in the 200 in 32.72 and 21st in the long jump at 10’7”.
The 4x100 team of Chmelik, Gimmeson, Heitman and Falzon was 6th in 1:03.2 and the team of Dinning, Jessi Riener, Holubetz and Demetria Riener was 8th in 1:05.97.
As a team the girls placed 4th with 73.5 points. Grangeville, St. John-Endicott and Troy placed ahead of them.
Josh Roeper in the shot put where he placed third.
Troy Lorentz clears an early height in the high jump. He placed 6th in the event.

Justin Ross was led the 1600 for the first 3 laps and wound up placing 2nd.
