Two track meets held last week
Riener wins shot put at Lapwai meet
Demetria Riener won the shot put and took second in the discus at a 10 school track meet in Lapwai Tuesday, March 27.
Her mark in the shot put was 31’9” and her discus mark was 79’5”.Jessi Riener in the shot put at the Lapwai meet.
Prairie had a strong team showing in the girls throwing events as Heidi Holubetz was 3rd in the shot at 27’8” and 4th in the discus at 71’8”. Jessi Riener was 5th in the shot at 26’8” and 16th in the discus at 54’4”. Taylor Heitman was 6th in the shot at 25’6½” and 5th in the discus at 71’8”. Finaly Beth Dinning was 12th in the shot at 22’3½” and 7th in the discus at 66’11”.
The highest finish posted by the boys team was by Justin Ross, who was 3rd in the 3200 meter run in 11;13.25. He was also 9th in the 400 in 1:03.01 and 8th in the 1600 in 5:17.72.
Prairie took mostly the younger members of the squad to this meet with the rest of the team competing two nights later at Kamiah.
The 4x200 relay team of Rachel Falzon, Sydney Glimp, Kellie Heitman and Natasha Gimmeson placed second in 2:10.66.
The same four girls made up the medley team with Falzon and Heitman running 100 meter legs, Gimmeson the 200 meter leg and Glimp the 400 meter anchor leg. They placed 4th in 2:20.25.
Other girls events by competitor:
Gimmeson was 5th in the long jump at 11’9” and 16th in the 100 meters in 15.10.
Kellie Heitman was 8th in the 200 in 31.3 and 10th in the long jump at 11’1¼”.
Falzon was 14th in the 200 in 33.2 and 7th in the long jump at 11’6¾”
Glimp was 4th in the triple jump at 22’½”.
The boys 4x100 relay team of Tyler Hankerson, Garrett Schmidt, Wise Kittithakorn and Austin Sonnen placed 4th in 53.13.

Nathan McElroy and Austin Sonnen run a heat of the 100 at the Lapwai meet.Hankerson was 15th in the 100 in 13.19 and 8th in the 400 in 1:01.59.
Kittithakorn tied Hankerson for 15th in the 100 at 13.19, was 12th in the 200 in 27.45 and 14th in the long jump at 15’1”.
Sonnen was 18th in the 100 in 13.39, 21st in the 200 in 30.19 and 11th in the 400 in 1:04.18.
Nathan McElroy was 19th in the 100 in 13.8 and 17th in the 200 in 29.0.
Schmidt was 18th in the 200 in 29.16, 9th in the shot put at 33’6” and 16th in the discus at 82’7”.
Dally Ratcliff was 6th in the 800 in 2:36.83, 10th in the 300 hurdles in 59.29, 10th in the triple jump at 29’8” and 24th in the 200 in 33.29.
Tayler Heitman was 16th in the 200 in 28.27, 10th in the 400 in 1:03.92 and 11th in the 1600 in 5:56.92.
Peter Spencer was 7th in the 1600 in 5:16.22, 8th in the 300 hurdles in 52.65 and 10th in the long jump at 15’5¾”.
Dylon Bruegeman was 10th in the 1600 in 5:36.19, 6th in the 3200 in 12:46.26 and 9th in the 300 hurdles in 54.05.
Westin Crenshaw was 22nd in the shot put at 27’7” and 24th in the discus at 70’4”.
As a team the girls placed 3rd with 67 points behind Logos and Nezperce. The boys placed 8th with 22 points.
3 individuals, 2 relays win at Kamiah meet
MaKayla Schaeffer, Demetria Riener, Justin Schmidt and the girls 4x100 and medley relays each won events at an 8-school track meet at Kamiah Thursday, March 29.
Schaeffer won both the long jump and triple jump with marks of 15’3” and 31’0” respectively and was also 3rd in the 100 meter dash in 14.0.
Schmidt won the triple jump with a mark of 40’2”, was 2nd in both the 200 and 400 with times of 24.9 and 53.1 respectively. He also placed 3rd in the discus with a mark of 105’1”.
Riener won the shot put with a mark of 33’6” and was 3rd in the discus at 85’2”.
The 4x100 team of Keely Schmidt, Claire Whitley, Shelby VonBargen and Abi Chmelik won in a time of 56.0.Brandi Gehring clears 4'6 in the high jump to place third at the Kamiah meet.
Schmidt, Whitley, VonBargen and Schaeffer won the medley relay in 2:01.6.
Other girls results:
Taylor Heitman took 2nd in the girls discus with a mark of 85’8” and was 4th in the shot put at 28’1”.
Schmidt was 4th in the 100 in 14.4.
VonBargen was 7th in the 100 in 14.6.
Brandi Gehring took 3rd in the high jump at 4’6” and was 17th in the 100 in 15.7, 11th in the 200 in 33.6 and 11th in the 100 hurdles in 22.65.
Whitley took 5th in the long jump at 14’2”.
Other boys results:
The 4x400 relay team of Dakota Wilson, Lucas Arnzen, Marcus Higgins and Mason Dalgliesh placed 2nd in a time of 4:01.4.
The 4x200 team of Josh Roeper, Troy Lorentz, Higgins and Arnzen placed 4th in 1:44.3.
The 4x100 team of Wilson, Cody Schumacher, Lorentz and Arnzen placed 5th in 49.7.
Lorentz was 5th in the 200 in 26.4 and 7th in the high jump at 5’0”.
Higgins was 4th in the triple jump at 36’7½” and 8th in the 200 in 27.5.
Alex Stefan was 2nd in the 3200 in 15:12.0 and 6th in the 1600 in 6:35.75.
Schumacher was 19th in the 100 in 13.56 and 6th in the shot put at 36’0”.
Wilson tied Schumacher for 19th in the 100 in 13.56 and was 16th in the 200 in 28.1.
Torin Dalgliesh was 15th in the 100 in 13.29, 10th in the shot at 30’6” and 14th in the discus at 72’4”.
Mason Dalgliesh was 23rd in the 100 at 13.76, 20th in the 200 at 29.1 and 14th in the long jump at 13’8¼”.
Roeper was 14th in the 200 in 28.0 and 5th in the discus at 98’8”.
Arnzen was 15th in the 200 in 28.1.
Derek VanderPas was 4th in the shot put at 36’2½” and 4th in the discus at 102’4”.
Robert Nau was 11th in the shot at 30’4 ½” and 6th in the discus at 98’6”.
Kyle Uhlenkott placed 9th in the discus at 95’1”.
As a team the girls placed 2nd behind Kamiah with 92 points. The boys placed 3rd behind Kamiah and Orofino with 93 points.

Football/Boys basketball player/parent meeting
Prairie High School will be holding a player/parent meeting for all boys who plan on playing football and basketball next fall/winter.  
The meeting will be at the High School Cafeteria on April 10th starting at 6:00 pm for basketball and 6:30 pm for football.  If you plan on playing either of these two sports please be in attendance.
