Girls 4x400 team wins at Area Best meet
The Prairie girls 4x400 relay team of Keely Schmidt, Claire Whitley, Shelby VonBargen and MaKayla Schaeffer finished in first place at the Area Meet of Champions Thursday, May 3 at Lewiston.Shelby VonBargen hands a lead over to MaKayla Schaeffer for the final leg of the 4x400 which Prairie won.
They had a time of 4:26.20.
The 4x200 team of the same 4 girls placed 4th in 1:54.64.
The medley team of Brandi Gehring, Whitley, Schmidt and Abi Chmelik placed 5th with a time of 2:09.35.
The 4x100 team of Gehring, Schmidt, Whitley and VonBargen took 5th in 55.87.
Schaeffer took 4th place in both the long jump at 15’5¾” and the triple jump at 33’8”.
Gehring was 5th in the high jump at 4’6” and 10th in the 100 hurdles in 18.81.
Demetria Riener was 5th in the shot put at 31’5¼” and 10th in the discus at 81’9”.
Heidi Holubetz placed 15th in the discus at 70’0”.
Top finisher for the boys team was Marcus Higgins who had a personal best in the triple jump of 39’11” to place 4th.
Troy Lorentz had a personal best in the long jump of 19’0” to place 5th.
Justin Ross was 9th in the 1600 in 5:00.76 and 10th in the 3200 in 11:12.04.
Peter Spencer was 13th in the 1600 in 5:07.44.
Dylon Bruegeman was 15th in the 3200 in 11:52.07.
Josh Roeper was 9th in the shot put at 40’5”.
The 4x200 relay team of Lucas Arnzen, Tyler Hankerson, Higgins and Lorentz placed 8th in  1:40.30.
The 4x400 team of Dakota Wilson, Arnzen, Higgins and Hankerson was 9th in 3:58.89.
The 4x100 team of Wilson, Arnzen, Higgins and Lorentz was 11th in 48.89.

Heitman, Glimp win events at JV Meet of Champions
Taylor Heitman won the discus and Sydney Glimp won the triple jump at the JV Meet of Champions held at Lapwai Friday, May 4.
Heitman won the discus with a mark of 92.5” while Glimp won the triple jump with a mark of 25’1¼”.
Heitman was also 3rd in the shot put at 26’5” and Glimp was third in the 800 meters at 3:07,61.
Cody Schumacher and Dylon Bruegeman were the top boys finishers with a second place finish each. Cody in the boys shot put at 36’6” and Dylon in the 1600 at 5:26.21.
Other girls results:
Abi Chmelik was 2nd in the 800 in 3:00.51, 3rd in the pole vault at 6’6” and 7th in the 100 in 14.73.
The girls 4x100 relay team of Rachel Falzon, Kellie Heitman, Tasha Gimmeson and Glimp placed 2nd in 1:00.16.
Kellie Heitman was 6th in the 200 in 30.79, 17th in the 100 in 16.50 and 5th in the long jump at 11’11”.
Natasha Gimmeson was 6th in the long jump at 11’6½”, 13th in the 100 in 15.34 and 13th in the 200 in 33.12.
Falzon was 3rd in the 100 hurdles in 20.13, 12th in the 100 in 15.31 and 11th in the 200 in 32.82.
Jessi Riener was 7th in the shot put at 23’2” and 14th in the discus at 57’1”.
Beth Dinning was 16th in the discus at 54’6” and 18th in the shot at 19’3”.
In other boys results Schumacher was also 14th in the discus at 86’1” and 15th in the 200 in 26.52.
Bruegeman was also 8th in the 800 in 2:29.49.
Dally Ratcliff was 5th in the 300 hurdles in 56.11, 12th in the 800 in 2:37.1; 4th in the triple jump at 30’5¼” and 30th in the 200 in 30.15.
Garrett Schmidt was 5th in the shot put at 34’6”, 15th in the discus at 81’10” and 22nd in the 200 in 28.40.
Kyle Uhlenkott was 7th in the discus at 99’8” and 9th in the shot at 32’1”.
Westin Crenshaw was 23rd in the shot put at 29’3” and 18th in the discus at 75’11”.
Torin Dalgliesh was 12th in the 100 in 12.81, 13th in the shot at 31’6” and 19th in the discus at 75’8”.
Wide Kittithakorn was 13th in the 100 in 12.82 and 18th in the 200 in 27.01.
Mason Dalgliesh was 9th in the 400 in 1:03.82; 20th in the 100 in 13.26 and 20th in the 200 in 27.60.
Austin Sonnen was 10th in the 400 in 1:03.95, 19th in the 100 in 13.23 and 23rd in the 200 in 28.43.
Nathan McElroy was 11th in the 400 in 1:07.32; 21st in the 100 in 13.37 and 21st in the 200 in 27.87.
The 4x100 relay team of Mason Dalgliesh, McElroy, Schumacher and Torin Dalgliesh was 3rd in 52.06.
In team scores the girls tied for 2nd with Potlatch with 74 points, only 5 points behind Moscow. The boys placed 8th with 38 points.
MaKayla Schaeffer was 4th in the triple jump at the Area Best meet.
Marcus Higgins had a personal best mark of almost 40’ in the triple jump to place 4th.
