Library to feature young artists
For the next few months the library will be recognizing the talent of aspiring young artists in this community and will display their paintings in the "gallery" area of the library.
The month of July will be featuring 17 year old Andrea Kaschmitter as "Youth Artist of the month."   Andrea will be entering her senior year at P.H.S. She was born at St. Mary's hospital and is the daughter of Mike and Leah Kaschmitter and resides  on their farm just outside of Cottonwood.  She has one brother, Nate and two sisters, Rachel and Jessica.
Andrea's introduction to art was in her sophomore year under the direction of Mrs. Lundmark when she realized her interest in acrylic painting.  She describes it as a "step by step" painting class where the instructor would draw one area of a picture and the students would follow duplicating her, "kind of like following the leader."  She enjoyed the class and has continued on her own as scheduling did not allow for more art classes in school.  However she was able to schedule the Art Appreciation class during her senior year and will study artists and various kinds of art.  She describes her interest in art as a "fun Hobby."  Andrea has been active in school and extra curricular activities including softball, PAVE and Youth Group.  Her senior project is Interior Design which will allow her to re-design and decorate her room in a soft relaxing atmosphere of green tones, one of her favorite colors.
She has been an active member of the Camas Livestock 4-H club for past nine years.  Projects included Sheep, Sewing, Making the most of me, Dutch oven, International cooking and for the past five years, Cake decorating, where she has received the  "Top Project" award the past three years.
Andrea recently baked and decorated three different cakes for a Sweet 16 Birthday Party that were a huge delight to the recipients.
She also provides family members and friends with delicious and beautifully decorated cakes for their special celebrations.   Upon graduation, Andrea plans to attend college but has not decided where.  She recently completed a CNA course and is interested in both Health care and Interior design.  Wherever the path leads, we wish you the very best and Thank You for allowing us the honor of featuring you as our first Young Artist of the Month.
