Library news
The report is in and it has been determined the 2012 Bräts and Brew is by far the best one ever.
There are too many people to name individually for its success. So to everyone who contributed in any way, please accept this as your personal “Thank You” from the Library Board.
Winners in the competition that were awarded cash prizes of $50.00
Bräts: Denis Duman
Brew: Kevin Price
Salad/ Side Dish: Bonnie Gehring
Desserts: Jane Burgess
Ride n’ shine car wash, sponsors of the $100.00 Gold Coin event: Roger Holthaus.
The top cash contributor this year was Walco. There were many other generous donations in cash, items etc. However, the overall success came from the volunteer workers and supporters who attended the event and contributed so generously in so many ways. The feed back has been very positive and all the proceeds will be used for general expenses and creating a more user friendly atmosphere in the children and youth section in the library.
Recently we became aware that the public did not realize, unlike most libraries, this library relies totally on donations, membership fees and fund raisers. There are no paid staff but all volunteer workers including the summer reading program. There is no tax base for support as with every other library from North Idaho to Riggins. It is the only “stand alone” library in this area which restricts it from becoming a member of the Val Net group and other organizations. This lends to the huge importance of the success of the Bräts and Brew and this year was certainly a success.
What a great community to be part of.
P.S. The new fishing pole turned out to be a huge success also.
