Youth ministry activities for February
Dear Youth in Christ,
The month of February brings with it a stirring in our souls as a longing for newness and change begins to surface.  Many activities take place during this time of year, which  invite us into a deeper union with our Church community.  The abundance offered by Christ reflects the opportunities before us and challenges us to embrace the stirrings within us.  Please join us this month as we gather in Christ’s abundance and rejoice in all that God so graciously provides.
Our month begins with our Jr. High and High School youth attending the “Middle School Rally” in Coeur d’Alene on Feb. 2nd –3rd.  We have 26 young people signed up to for this event along with 9 adults.  This faith adventure is always exciting and fruitful as our young people gather to share and learn about the greatness of God.  Thank you to all our parents and others who have helped make this weekend happen.  Please remember to pray for all of us during our time away.  Our Haiti team will also be out delivering chili and cinnamon rolls during the Super Bowl. Again, thank you for all those who have called in and placed orders, your hunger and support and greatly appreciated.  On Monday all ICYC forms are due.  Please drop your form and money off at the office.  The girl’s book club will meet at 3:30 at Jitters on Feb. 5th to discuss chapter 6.  On Feb. 6th we will have our themed movie night at the OMG @ 7:00 p.m.  (The theme has not been chosen yet so please watch your bulletin).  Don’t forget to go to attend the Keuterville dinner on Feb. 10th.  Your presence is important!
Our small group Bible study will take place on Feb. 11th at Debbie’s office.  Please join us for pizza at 6:30.  We will begin our study at 7:00 p.m.  Debbie will be in Lewiston on Feb. 12th for a North Central Deanery meeting.  On Feb. 13th all High School and Jr. High youth are invited to the OMG at 5:00 p.m. for soup and sandwiches prior to attending the Ash Wed services at St. Anthony’s Church.  This is a great opportunity to begin the Lenten season.  All youth are encouraged to attend this special time as we gather to begin a special season of reflection, prayer, and response.  On Feb. 15th the Confirmation youth will be hosting the “Stations of the Cross” at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s.  Everyone is encouraged to attend this meaningful prayer service.
On Feb. 18th Ally Hale, Kyle, Kevin, and Katarina Tillinghast, their parents, guardians and Debbie will be attending the “Rite of Election” with Bishop Michael Driscoll in Lewiston at St. James@ 7:00 p.m. Please pray for our catechumen and candidates as they continue their journey toward the full initiation into the Catholic Church on Easter.  All ICYC youth and chaperones are asked to attend an information meeting on Feb. 20th at the OMG room at 7:00 p.m.  Please attend this meeting to find out your hotel assignment, bus information, chaperone assignment, itinerary for the weekend, as well as group expectations.
During the week of Feb. 24th –March 1st Debbie will be at Moscow as a Spiritual Director for the “Busy Person’s” Retreat at St. Augustine’s Church.  Please pray for God’s guidance and the Holy Spirit’s presence as I meet with the University students on their journey of faith.  We will not have any youth group activities during the week of Feb. 24th –March 1st.
As God’s stirring calls us forth and we respond with a yes, we step into the world filled with possibilities and open the door to change.  Yes, there is newness waiting, it’s within us; we just need to see it and act upon it; it is here the abundance will flow!  Happy February!
In Christ,
Debbie Chicane
