Uhlenkott is regional champion
Krystin Uhlenkott set a new personal best as she won the long jump at the Regional Track Meet at Kamiah this past weekend. Her mark of 16’9” was over 6” better than her previous best. Also qualifying for state for the Prairie girls track team was Brandi Gehring in both the 100 hurdles and the high jump. She placed 4th in the high jump at a season best 4’8” and 5th in the 100 hurdles in 18.04. Her time was good enough to get her into state as an at-large entry. She will be in the first prelim in the hurdles. She also competed in the 300 hurdles at Regionals where she finished 8th in 57.37.
Heidi Holubetz took second in the shot put with a mark of 33’4” and will compete in the second flight at state. She was also 10th in the discus at 87’9”.
Taylor Heitman was second in the discus with a season best mark of 104’0”. She will also compete in the second flight at state. She was also 16th in the shot put at 26’7”.
The final girls entry at state will be the 4x400 relay team of Keely Schmidt, Clair Whitley, Shelby VonBargen and Uhlenkott. They finished third with a season best time of 4:20.41 and will go in as an at-large entry at state.
For the boys team Peter Spencer qualified in both the 1600 and 3200. He was 4th in the 1600 in 4:52.09 and third in the 3200 in 10:30.65.
Lucas Arnzen also qualified for state by placing fourth in the 400 meter dash in 53.25. He will be in heat 2 of the prelims at state.
The final state qualifier was Jake Bruner in the long jump where he placed 4th with a mark of 18’10”. He was also 5th in the triple jump at 37’8½” but his mark wasn’t quite good enough for an at-large berth.
In other girls events at Regionals Whitley was 17th in the 100 in 14.85.
Beka Bruner ran her first 1600 since the first meet of the year and finished 16th in 7:11.28.
Shayla VonBargen was 8th in the high jump at 4’6”.
Kirstin Latimer was 30th in the shot put at 21’11½” and 33rd in the discus at 49’9”.
Peter Spencer qualified for state in both the 1600 and 3200.The 4x100 relay team of Schmidt, Whitley, Shelby VonBargen and Shayla VonBargen was 4th with a time of 54.11.
The 4x200 team of Schmidt, Shayla VonBargen, Shelby VonBargen and Uhlenkott was 5th in 1:53.20.
The medley team of Schmidt, Shayla VonBargen, Shelby VonBargen and Whitley was 4th in 2:02.18.
The girls places 5th as a team with 59½ points.
For the boys Tyler Hankerson was 6th in the triple jump at 37’4” and 7th in the long jump at 17’10”.
Hunter McWilliams was 8th in the 1600 in 5:07.37 and 10th in the 3200 at 11:57.79.
Drew Cochran was 15th in the 800 in 2:26.95, 12th in the 1600 in 5:27.21, 11th in the 3200 in 12:00.51 and 13th in the shot put at 33’3”.
Westin Crenshaw was 12th in the shot at 34’6” and 15th in the discus at 96’4”.
Dylon Bruegeman was 16th in the 800 in 2:31.33, 13th in the 1600 in 5:33.32 and 12th in the 3200 in 12:06.81.
Isaiah Shears was 11th in the 400 in 59.18.
Dakota Wilson was 29th in the 100 in 13.45 and 25th in the 200 in 27.74.
Austin Sonnen was 17th in the 800 in 2:32.38, 36th in the 100 in 13.88 and 32nd in the 200 in 29.02.
Kevin Tillinghast was 38th in the 200 in 33.17, 41st in the 100 in 15.39 and 36th in the discus at 59’4”.
The 4x100 team of Shears, McWilliams, Wilson and Bruegeman was 6th in 51.02.
The 4x200 team of Hankerson, Shears, Bruner and Arnzen was 4th in 1:38.04.
The 4x400 team of Shears, Bruner, Hankerson and Arnzen was 4th in 3:53.37.
The medley team of Gabe Angus, Hankerson, Arnzen and Spencer was 4th in 3:55.49.
The boys placed 6th as a team with 49 points.
State Schedule
The State Track Meet will get underway at 9 a.m. Friday, May 17 at Middleton High School with several field events.
This year the 1-A, 2-A and 3-A events will all be at Middleton while the 4-A and 5-A will be at Eagle High School.
For Prairie Heidi Holubetz will be competing in the shot put which starts at 9 a.m. 
Brandi Gehring will compete in the high jump starting at approximately 10:30 a.m. after the boys 1-A high jump is finished.
At noon Taylor Heitman will be competing in the discus.
Jake Bruner will be competing in the boys long jump which starts at 1:30 p.m.
Krystin Uhlenkott will compete in the girls long jump which starts at 3 p.m.
The running events start at 3:30 p.m. with the 3200 finals. Peter Spencer will be in that event which starts after the 1-A girls finish.
Gehring will be in the 110 hurdles prelims which start after all the 3200 finals are done.
Lucas Arnzen will be in the 400 meter dash prelims which are right after the hurdles prelims.
On Saturday the Parade of Athletes will be held at 11:30 a.m.
At 12:30 the running finals get underway with the 4x200 relay finals. After those are done the 1600 finals will be held with Spencer in the 1A boys event.
The 1600 will be followed by the girls 100 hurdles finals, the boys 110 hurdles finals and the 400 meter dash finals. After a 20 minute break the events will be: 100 meter dash, 800 meter run, 4x100 relay, 300 hurdles and 200 meter dash. There will then be a 10 minute break and then the 4x400 meter finals with Prairie fielding a team in that event.
Taylor Heitman qualified for state in the discus and until the final throws appeared headed for a repeat as district champ in the event.
Brandi Gehring qualified for state in the high jump. She also qualified in the 100 hurdles.
Lucas Arnzen qualified for state in the 400 meter dash.
Jake Bruner is shown in the triple jump. He came up one spot short of qualifying for state in this event but did qualify in the long jump.
