Sonnen receives Idaho Credit Union League award
The Idaho Credit Union League has named the winner of this year’s Outstanding Professional of Year the Award.  Greg
Sonnen, CEO of Cottonwood Community Federal Credit Union in Cottonwood,
ID, was presented the prestigious award at the League’s 77th Annual Meeting
held in Coeur d’Alene.
When Sonnen began as CEO in 2004, the credit union had assets of $28,713,661. Under his strong leadership, the credit union now boasts assets in excess of $73 million, and auditors continue to be impressed with its strong net worth ratio. Greg does not think his responsibility to credit union members stops at the door to the credit union. He is also an active member of his Chapter of Credit Unions, where he serves on the Chapter Board. He also participates at the Idaho Credit Union League by attending educational and governmental affairs events and through service on its committees and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of League Services, Inc. He participates at the national level by traveling to Washington, DC so he can present Idaho credit union concerns to Idaho’s Congressional Delegation. He is an active and supportive member of his community and church, serving on many committees and boards, and seeks to support education in a great variety of ways. Sonnen also has found time in the past 18 years to be a volunteer fireman. He served as Assistant Chief for several years and was recently appointed Fire Chief. He continually attends Fire Department training and assists in 90% of the emergency calls coming in for department assistance. In addition to receiving a plaque and a diamond lapel pin from the Idaho Credit Union League, a donation of $250 will be made to the National Credit Union Foundation in his name. The Foundation is dedicated to helping credit union members around the world when needs arise. |
