In the second inning Calvin Hinkelman led off with a double to center. He would later score on a wild pitch. With one out Brandon Anderson walked and went to second on an errant pickoff throw. He went to third on a wild pitch and scored when Tyler Hankerson reached on an error. With Daniel Mager at the plate the Kamiah starting pitcher hurt himself on a toss back from his catcher. He apparently stepped wrong and pulled a groin muscle. The replacement pitcher wound up walking Mager. Hankerson and Mager scored when Rhett Schlader reached on an error. Bruegeman walked and Clark Bruno reached on an error with Schlader scoring and Bruegeman going to third. Bruegeman and Bruno pulled off a successful double steal as Bruegeman scored. Walks to Hinkelman, Terran Perry and Anderson forced in Bruno to make it 7-0.
Pitcher Bruegeman gave up a couple of walks in the second but no runs.
Prairie added 2 more runs in the third to take a 9-0 lead as Mager singled and Schlader walked. Bruegeman struck out but had to be thrown out at first and Mager scored on the play at first. Schlader wound up scoring on a wild pitch.
Bruegeman ran into trouble in the third as he gave up 2 singles and a triple and 3 runs.
Kamiah went to a third pitcher in the fourth and Hinkelman greeted him with his second double of the game. Peery was hit by a pitch and Anderson singled to scored Hinkelman. Jake Bruner beat out an infield hit to load the bases and Hankerson scored Peery with a sacrifice fly to left. Mager reached on an error to reload the bases and Schlader singled home both Anderson and Bruner. Bruegeman started the first inning rally by reaching on an error. Bruno followed with a single and Hinkelman singled home Bruegeman. Peery then forced Hinkelman at second but Bruno was able to score. Genesee got to Bruegeman for a run on 2 hits in the bottom of the first and added another run in the second.
They took the lead with a 4-run fourth that featured 4 hits and an error. Prairie conceivably should have allowed no runs in that inning. A bobbled ground ball led to just a force out instead of a likely double play and an error followed on the next batter which kept the inning going.
Genesee added single runs in both the 5th and 6th innings to win 8-3.
Bruegeman pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing 14 hits and 8 runs with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Daniel Mager got the last 2 outs in the sixth.

Game 2 vs. Genesee
In the second game against Genesee the Bulldogs scored a run in the bottom of the first on a walk and a single and it looked like they might make that stand up as Prairie had just 3 baserunners on 2 infield hits and a walk over the first 5 innings.
In the top of the 6th Schlader beat out a bunt single and went to second when the throw got past first base. After an out Bruno had in infield single and Spencer went in as a courtesy runner for Bruno who was the Prairie pitcher in the game. Spencer stole second to set up Hinkelman for a 2-run single to left that gave Prairie a 2-1 lead.
The lead did not last long though as Genesee got a lead-off walk and turned that into a run on 2 wild pitches and an errant pickoff throw. Bruno then got 2 outs before hitting a batter. Bruno then had the batter picked off but in the ensuing rundown a throw got away allowing the baserunner to get all the way to third. He scored on a wild pitch to give Genesee a 2-3 lead.
