The Prairie baseball team took their first lead in the bottom of the fourth and poured it on late for a 15-5 win over Kamiah Tuesday, April 8 at Cottonwood. On Friday and Saturday, April 11-12 they played in a wooden bat tournament at Glenns Ferry. They lost to Wells, Nev., 12-1, to Malad 10-6 and to Soda Springs 9-4. That is the only information we have at this time. 
In the league game against Kamiah the Pirates fell behind in the top of the first on a walk, single and groundout that scored a run. The Pirates tied it in the bottom of the inning as they manufactured a run. Rhett Schlader walked, went to second on a passed ball, went to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch. Kamiah took back the lead with 2 runs in the second inning on a walk and a couple of errors. The Pirates scored a run in the bottom of the second as Casey Danly doubled down the left field line, stole third and then scored on a wild pitch. They tied it in the third as Devin Bruegeman drew a 1-out walk, stole second and then stole third. Calvin Hinkelman walked an out later and an attempted pickoff throw that got past the 1st baseman allowed Bruegeman to score. Kamiah again took back the lead in the fourth inning. Schlader had pitched the first 3 innings and Tyler Hankerson came on in the fourth. He had a rocky start as he walked the first two batters. He then struck out the next 4 batters, unfortunately the one that would have been the third out, reached first as the ball got past the catcher. The first two runners scored in the meantime to make it 3-5 in Kamiah’s favor. In the bottom of the fourth Prairie finally got to Kamiah’s starting pitcher, Branson Ballantine. He walked Brandon Anderson to lead off the inning. Anderson stole second and went to third on a wild pitch. Danly then singled up the middle to score Anderson and wound up at third as the centerfielder let the ball get past him. Danly scored on Jake Bruner’s pop-up bunt single. Bruner wound up on third when the play was done as Kamiah threw the ball away in attempts to get Danly at the plate and then Bruner on the bases. Bruner then scored on a wild pitch to give Prairie their first lead of the game. With a 2-0 count on Daniel Mager, Kamiah changed pitchers and Mager wound up walking. On a hit and run, Mager came around to score on Schlader’s single to left. Schlader then stole second and then third and scored on another wild pitch to give Prairie an 8-5 lead. In the top of the fifth Hankerson got 2 quick outs then gave up 2 walks. He got out of the inning when Kamiah completed a double steal but apparently they thought the pitch they stole on was a foul ball as both runners retreated to their former bases and the one that started on first was tagged between first and second for the third out. In the bottom of the fifth Prairie got their bats going and scored 7 runs to end it on the 10-run mercy rule. Terran Peery led off the inning with a walk and stole second. Anderson beat out an infield single to the left side as Peery went to third. Anderson stole second and Danly then picked up his third hit of the game, an infield single that scored both runners. After an out Mager was hit by a pitch. With Danly having advanced to third, Mager stole second. A wild pitch moved up both runners as Danly scored. After a second out, Bruegeman walked and he and Mager wound up executing a double steal as Mager stole home. Hankerson hit a ball right to shortstop that went through the wickets for an error allowing Bruegeman to score. Hinkelman singled home Hankerson and Peery ended the game with a triple to right that scored Hinkelman. Schlader pitched 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 1 hit with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Hankerson pitched 2 innings allowing 2 runs on no hits with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Prairie had 8 hits led by Danly who had a double and 2 singles and 3 RBI. Peery had a triple and an RBI. Schlader, Hinkelman and Bruner each had an RBI single and Anderson also had a single. Prairie is now 3-2 in league play and 3-6 overall. Kamiah 1 2 0 2 0— 5 1 5 Prairie 1 1 1 5 7—15 8 4
 Rained out games rescheduled The postponed Prairie baseball games against Potlatch and Troy have been rescheduled. Prairie will host Potlatch this Friday, April 18 for a doubleheader. The first game will start at 3:00 p.m. at the Prairie baseball field. The game against Troy that was suspended in the bottom of the 7th on March 28 will be picked up from that point at 4 p.m. Friday, March 25 at Troy followed by the full second game.
