Overgrown trees crating problems
The heat of summer seems to have come early this year. The city of Cottonwood would like to complement everyone who has worked so hard to improve their yards, it is a huge complement to the beauty of the town. That being said, there are a number of areas where the abundant growth of trees have begun to intrude on the streets causing obstacles, clearance problems and visibility issues for signs and intersection safety. If the offending vegetation is located on your property, it is your responsibility to keep them trimmed back.
The City can have the trees trimmed, but that sometimes leads to misunderstanding, plus it is another expense for the City which will then be passed on to the homeowner. The preferable option would be for the citizens to step out and see if their trees are creating a problem and take care of the problem themselves. There are some areas that have become such a problem that the owners will be informed, and they may not like the way the problem is dealt with or the expense if the City has to deal with it.
We are looking for 15 ft. of overhead clearance for trucks, ambulances or firetrucks. We also need to maintain a clear view of traffic signs and as much visibility at intersections as possible. If you think you may have a clearance problem or just questions, feel free to contact Roy Uhlenkott or Jack Duman.
