Congressman Labrador holds town hall meeting in Cottonwood
Congressman Raul Labrador answered several questions at a town hall meeting Friday, Aug. 15 at Cottonwood.
The first question was about impeachment. Labrador said he thinks that is not a good idea. Look at the bump Clinton got in the polls when he was impeached. And the Republicans actually lost seats in the election soon after. Also do we really want Joe Biden as president?
Questions dealt with the suction dredging, Federal lands reverting to the state,  the national debt, the EPA taking control of waters and immigration.
Labrador said they are working on those issues. At this point bills that get passed in the House will stall in the Senate. He feels good about the Republicans gaining control of the Senate this election and also feels good about several of the Republican candidates for President. He said he felt Mitt Romney would have been a great president but wasn’t a strong candidate.
Regarding the immigration question, a 2008 bill was too broad and he is working on a bill that would tighten that up. The 2008 law basically opened the gates to unattended children attempting to come into the country. He would also like to see the process sped up to hear their cases and make the decision whether they can stay or go.

Raul Labrador emphasizes a point while answering an attendee’s question.

About 40 people were in attendance for Congressman Raul Labrador’s Town Hall Friday at Cottonwood.
