Kindness Rocks at Prairie Elementary
Prairie Elementary is proud to announce that 45 students who are in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade have signed up to be part of Kindness Rocks.
The youngsters sign a pledge that they will be good role models to their peers. The group works on being kind, being respectful and learning to have new friends. This group started four years ago and is a favorite among the students.
Each month the group has a meeting, in which the members participate in an activity that highlights the new goal they are working on in school. They also do a service project to instill the concept of doing for others.  They also make a craft to take home.
Their first meeting was September 19th. They had a blast decorating cookies for the bus drivers under the close eyes of Erin Shears and Cami Farnworth. Colleen Sonnen had the groups playing team build games and they learned that we all have many things in common if we just look, and listen to others. Cara Uhlenkott helped them draw an optical illusion picture of their hand that will be framed with a saying about what their hands can be used for in their community. The officers for this year are Kyleigh Duclos, Eve Uhlenkott, Pixie Jones and Ellea Uhlenkott. The advisors are Colleen Sonnen and Erin Shears. If you have an idea for an activity, craft or service projects contact Colleen or Erin.
