Anderson is employee of the month
Deserae Anderson has been chosen by her St. Mary’s Hospital co-workers as the Employee of the Month for February. Deserae Anderson.She was chosen in-part for her willingness to go the extra mile in helping out with the meals for employee functions, her pleasant attitude and of course her great cooking abilities.
Deserae became the dietary manager for SMH in July of 2014. Her job responsibilities include managing and maintaining the hospital kitchen, overseeing the day to day cooking operations, food ordering, clinical nutrition charting, catering, developing menus and helping with the patient’s diets.
“I started washing dishes when I was 15 years old in a long term care center and worked my way up. I always wanted to work in healthcare but figured out that I did not have the stomach to be a nurse,” laughed Deserae when asked why she decided on this profession.  “Plus, I love helping and feeding people.”
Deserae completed the ANFP Dietary Manager online training course in 2008.  She is also ServSafe certified.
When not working at the hospital, Deserae enjoys walking and taking care of her four furry children (dogs); Snickers, Ethel May, Bobo and Howdy, she also has three turtles.  Deserae keeps busy cooking, sewing and visiting family in Montana.
“I am originally from Montana and moved to Idaho in 2005 to be with my husband-Donnie who is originally from Boise,” said Deserae.  “He is my best friend and I enjoy spending much of my time hanging out with him.  We are expecting our first child this June, it’s a boy; unfortunately my husband and I cannot agree on his name. I enjoy working here at St. Mary’s Hospital and would love to move out to the area from Lewiston as soon as we can.”
