Bruner named Idaho State Player of the Year
Jake Bruner has been named as the Idaho State Player of the Year for 1A-Div. 1 boys basketball.
He and Rhett Schlader were also named first team All-State while Lucas Arnzen was named to the second team.
Kayla Schumacher was named first team All-State for 1-A Div. 1 girls basketball.


Prairie boys basketball awards were given out Tuesday, March 24. Pirates beat Highland 12-1
Daniel Mager had an outstanding outing on the mound as the southpaw tossed a 1-hitter with 15 strikeouts as Prairie beat Highland 12-1 at Airport Park in Lewiston Thursday, March 26.
The game was originally to be played at Clearwater Park but the field was too wet and it was moved to Airport Park.
Prairie tallied 2 runs each in the third and fifth innings and led just 4-0 going into the top of the 7th. Prairie erupted for 8 runs in the 7th and Highland answered with their only run of the game off of Mager.
Prairie had 9 hits led by Calvin Hinkelman who had 2 doubles and a single. Jake Bruner had a pair of singles. John Mager had a triple and Jace Perrin, Terran Peery and Devin Bruegeman each had a single.
Prairie goes into Spring Break with a 2-1 record, 2-0 in league play.

Baseball players sought for summer Legion team
The Camas Prairie Zephyrs are currently recruiting players for the 2015 season.
Final signup will be held on Wednesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. at the Idaho National Guard Armory in Grangeville. Players and parents are encouraged to attend.
To be eligible, players must be between the ages of 14 and 19. Players that reside in or around the following communities are eligible: Grangeville, Cottonwood, Craigmont, Stites, Kooskia, Kamiah and Nezperce. Both home and private school players are also eligible.
The season starts in early June and runs through mid-August. The Zephyrs are sponsored by the Camas Prairie American Legion Baseball Board consisting of community members and Veterans from American Legion Posts in Grangeville, Craigmont and Kamiah.
Attendance at this meeting is mandatory to assure a team for 2015.
