Monastery to host concert
The Benedictine Sisters of Cottonwood, Idaho, are pleased to welcome The Wilson-McVey-Hillyer Trio for a performance on Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. to celebrate the day the community was founded in Idaho nearly 106 years ago.
The trio features acclaimed musicians Miranda Wilson (cello), Roger McVey (piano), and Giselle Hillyer (violin). They will present selections by composers J. Brahms (1833 - 1897) and F. J. Haydn (1732 - 1809). All three musicians are professors of music at the University of Idaho and have performed around the world.
On April 26, 1909 the Benedictine sisters established their motherhouse in Cottonwood under the leadership of Mother Hildegard Vogler. The community continued to answer the needs of the times by starting schools, building hospitals, providing social services, pastoral ministry, spirituality programs, leadership and more to many people. The concert on Sunday, April 26, is a presentation of one of their newest programs – Spirituality and the Arts – that features dynamic performances and retreats that engage artistic expression as devotion and the deepening of spirituality through creativity.
The concert takes place at the Monastery of St. Gertrude, 465 Keuterville Road, Cottonwood. The event is free and there will be a reception to follow. For more information, call 208-962-3224 or visit www.StGertrudes.org.

The Wilson-McVey-Hillyer Trio features: Miranda Wilson, cello; Dr. Giselle Hillyer, violin; and Roger McVey, piano.
