Pirates split final regular season games
The Prairie Pirates split their final two games of the regular season and will be the third seed into the District Baseball Tournament which started with a play-in game Tuesday, May 5 at Cottonwood against Kamiah.
Prairie opened the week with a 29-7 home win over Nezperce then lost 3-13 at Genesee.
Vs. Nezperce
Prairie pounded out 17 hits and scored 29 runs as they completed a season sweep of Nezperce Tuesday, April 28 at Cottonwood.
John  Mager started on the mound and gave up 4 first inning runs but Prairie came back in their half of the inning to put up a 12-spot.
Mager settled down giving up just a single fun in the second and blanked Nezperce in the third. Bryson Higgins came on in the fourth and allowed 2 runs in the final two innings.
Meanwhile the Prairie offense added 7 runs in the second, 4 in the third and 6 in the fourth.
Devin Bruegeman led Prairie’s 17 hit attack with 4 singles. Calvin Hinkelman had a homer and a single. Higgins had a double and a single and John Mager had 2 singles. Nick Mager had a double and Terran Peery, Brandon Anderson, Jace Perrin, Dereck Arnzen, Bobby Hood and Jake Bruner each had a single.
For John Mager and Higgins it was their final regular season home game as seniors.

At Genesee
The final regular season game at Genesee did not mean anything in the standings for the Pirates as they were locked into third place. Genesee came away with a 3-13 win in five innings on Thursday, April 30.
It was also senior night for Genesee.
Daniel Mager started on the mound for the Pirates and gave up 3 runs in each of the first two innings.
Prairie cut the lead in half with a 3-run third but Genesee answered with 5 in the bottom of the third.
Genesee ended it with 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth to get the 10-run margin.
Prairie had 4 hits in the game, a single each by Bruegeman, Hinkelman, Mager and Bruner.
Prairie ends their regular season at 9-11 overall, 9-5 in league play.

Pirates at District
The Prairie baseball team opened District with a play-in game Tuesday at Cottonwood against Kamiah and won in walk-off fashion 6-5
Thursday, May 8 they lost in walkoff fashion to Potlatch 4-5
They will play Troy at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9. The winner of that game plays again at 3 p.m. against the Potlatch-Genesee loser for the #2 seed to State.
State will be at Caldwell May 15-16.
