Fair Shake program at NICI
On Monday, June 8, Sue Kastensen, developer of Fair Shake (a comprehensive WEB-based resource for offenders to link with community, family, and employer information) facilitated workshops at NICI with the offenders on Re-entry and Preparation for Release.
Sue Kastensen has been building Fair Shake for the past eight years.  She has worked with federal and state programs at a variety of levels in several regions and many states.  Sue was a speaker at the recent education conference and then provided workshops for inmates at the South Boise Women's Correctional Center (SBWCC) and Idaho State Correctional Institution (ISCI) in Boise.
At NICI, she talked to over 150 inmates in three sessions about using information provided by Fair Shake to facilitate their successful reintegration into the community.  Sue was impressed with the depth and structure of the NICI program and commented more than once that NICI is "light years ahead" of most of the prison programs she has visited in getting our inmates ready for release.
