Sisk is July Employee of the Month
Diana Sisk, RN was awarded the honor of being named the July Employee of the Month for St. Mary’s Hospital. This is the second time Diana has been awarded this honor; she was also named the employee of the month in December of 2012. Diana began her career with SMH in 1993 as a floor nurse; a few months later she started working in OB. Currently she is a Charge Nurse, Discharge Planner and does Utilization Review. Diana also works in surgery; including assisting the patients getting ready for their surgeries and the ER. Sisk started her health care career as a CNA. “And I just knew I wanted to be a nurse,” stated Diana. She attended the first outreach nursing program LCSC provided for Grangeville. It was an accelerated program; most classes that normally took 16 weeks were taught in 8 weeks. Her anatomy class was taught by an attorney. In the 21 years Diana has been at SMH she has also completed training in OB, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, Management, Leadership and many other courses. “I have seen Diana help many patients with the ‘headache’ of getting into a nursing home,” commented a co-worker on the Employee of the Month nomination form. “She seems to make it as painless as possible for the patient and the family, she truly cares about them.” When asked what she likes best about being a nurse at SMH Diane responded, “Patient care and all that entails, now as a discharge planner I follow patients into their homes and attempt to meet their needs with their main wish being ‘to stay home’. This is probably the hardest part of my job; finding help for those in need and yet it is also the most worthwhile. This is truly a team effort here at St. Mary’s and is always a work in progress.” In her spare time; Diana enjoys camping, riding her 4 wheeler and gardening and is also an avid reader. Diana and her husband Gary live in Grangeville and their three sons their wives and 8 grandchildren are scattered around the country.
