Summit hosts chess tournament
Sanford Staab of the Kooskia area, also known as The Chess Guy, put on his third annual Holiday Chess Tournament this past Saturday, Jan. 16.
For the first time it was held at Summit Academy.
Taking first place overall was George Watson with Cody Wassmuth of Summit Academy taking second overall and Preston Ammerman of Kooskia Middle School taking third.
For 1st-3rd graders Asher Smith, a home schooler from Kooskia was first with Greta Watson of Summit taking second.
For 4th-6th graders Wassmuth of Summit was first and Torry Chmelik, also of Summit was 2nd.
For 7th-9th graders Ammerman was first and Sarah Bytheway, a homeschooler from Kamiah, was 2nd
For 10th-12th grade Chris Osborne of Summit was first and Jonathan Halligan of Prairie High School was second.
