County Democrats hold Picnic
Sunday, June 12 was a gorgeous day for the Idaho County Democrats’ annual Picnic and Pie Auction.  This year the event was held, for the first time, at the beautiful Cottonwood City Park.  Over fifty people attended with more than $2600.00 raised for the group.  Ron Beitelspacher and Jim Rehder conducted the auction with lots of good humored teasing and bidding wars.  Cheesecakes, rhubarb, strawberry, peach and caramel pies were on the table.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and veggie burgers were provided along with drinks and ice cream.  County Chairman, Bill Farmer, emceed the event and Emmett Wilson, Liz Clark and Jody Gordon cooked and assisted the auction along with Sharon Jeffery.  Delegates to the State Convention; Linda Hagedorn and LouAnn McCune, both of Pollock, and Jared Reynolds of Grangeville, spoke to the gathering and candidate for Idaho House District 7, Jessica Chilcott, of Sagel, shared her thoughts about legislation needed during the next session, keeping “public lands in public hands” and the need for health care for all.
The next meeting will be Monday, July 11 at the Grangeville Senior Center.  Doors will open at 6:00 for socializing with the meeting to begin 6:30 PM.  Agenda items will include reports from convention attendees, and plans for the election year dinner, Greencreek, September 24 and plans for the next public forum in the “Growing Our Understanding” series.  For more information call 983 3763.
